LIFETIME WARRANTY

Terms and Conditions

At Tang & Co, we stand behind the quality and craftsmanship of every piece we create. Our Lifetime Warranty is our promise that your jewelry has been crafted to the highest standards and will be treasured for generations to come.

COMPREHENSIVE WARRANTY COVERAGE

Tang & Co provides a Lifetime Warranty to the original purchaser, guaranteeing that each piece of jewelry is free from manufacturing defects in materials and craftsmanship. This warranty remains in effect for the lifetime of the original purchaser when the jewelry has been subject to normal wear and proper care as outlined in this document.

Our warranty commitment covers the structural integrity and security of your jewelry, ensuring that the piece you receive meets our exacting standards for quality. We take pride in our craftsmanship and this warranty reflects our confidence in the jewelry we create.

MANUFACTURING DEFECTS COVERED

This Lifetime Warranty provides protection against the following manufacturing defects:

Stone Setting Security. Coverage includes loose or lost stones that result from defective prong work, setting failure, or improper mounting techniques that were present at the time of manufacture. This protection ensures that stones remain secure when the jewelry is worn under normal conditions and receives proper care.

Structural Metalwork Defects. The warranty covers cracking, breaking, or separation of metal components when such damage results from faulty metalwork, improper soldering techniques, or material defects that existed at the time the piece was created. This includes failures in band integrity, shank construction, and metal joining that occur due to manufacturing errors.

Prong Wear and Failure. Excessive or premature wear of prongs that occurs under normal use conditions is covered when such wear is inconsistent with expected patterns for the jewelry type and metal composition. This excludes prong damage resulting from external impact, catching on objects, or other forms of trauma to the jewelry.

Metal Finish and Plating Issues. Unusual tarnishing, discoloration, or deterioration of metal finishes that is inconsistent with the normal aging characteristics of the specific metal type is covered. For rhodium-plated white gold items, premature wear of plating that occurs within the first twelve months and is inconsistent with normal use patterns is included in warranty coverage.

Clasp and Closure Mechanisms. Malfunction of clasps, hinges, spring rings, lobster claws, and other closure mechanisms when such failures result from manufacturing defects rather than wear from regular opening and closing operations. This ensures that necklaces, bracelets, and other pieces with closures remain secure during normal wear.

Material Quality Defects. Issues arising from defects in the quality of materials used, including metal purity inconsistent with specifications, substandard alloy composition, or material flaws that were present in the raw materials at the time of manufacture.

EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS

To maintain clarity regarding warranty coverage, the following conditions and types of damage are specifically excluded from this Lifetime Warranty:

Normal Wear and Aging. Surface scratches, minor dents, scuffs, gradual thinning of metal bands over years of wear, and general patina development are natural consequences of regular jewelry use. These normal aging characteristics are not manufacturing defects and are excluded from warranty coverage. The development of character and patina over time is a natural part of jewelry ownership.

Accidental and Impact Damage. Damage resulting from dropping jewelry, striking it against hard surfaces, crushing, excessive bending, or any other form of accidental trauma is not covered. This includes damage from catching jewelry on objects, pulling, or applying excessive force during wear or removal.

Chemical and Environmental Damage. Damage caused by exposure to harsh chemicals, household cleaners, chlorine from swimming pools, saltwater, extreme heat or cold, cosmetics, perfumes, hairspray, or other corrosive or reactive substances is excluded. Jewelry worn during activities that expose it to these conditions is subject to accelerated wear that falls outside warranty coverage.

Improper Care and Maintenance. Damage resulting from failure to follow recommended care instructions, including wearing jewelry during inappropriate activities such as swimming, bathing, exercising, heavy lifting, gardening, cleaning, or sleeping. Lack of regular maintenance and inspection also falls outside warranty coverage.

Third-Party Service and Modifications. Any alterations, repairs, resizing, engraving, stone replacement, or other modifications performed by jewelers or service providers other than Tang & Co immediately and permanently voids this warranty in its entirety. Tang & Co cannot guarantee the quality or safety of work performed by other parties and assumes no responsibility for issues arising from third-party service, regardless of the qualification or reputation of the service provider.

Loss, Theft, and Disappearance. This warranty provides no coverage for jewelry that is lost, stolen, misplaced, or disappears under any circumstances. Customers are strongly encouraged to obtain appropriate insurance coverage for valuable jewelry items.

Intentional Damage and Misuse. Damage resulting from intentional abuse, negligence, or use of jewelry in a manner inconsistent with its design, purpose, and intended function is excluded. This includes using jewelry as tools, subjecting pieces to unusual stress, or wearing jewelry during activities for which it was not designed.

Gemstone Damage. Chips, cracks, fractures, or other damage to diamonds and gemstones caused by external impact or trauma is not covered, regardless of when such damage occurred. While our settings are designed to protect stones, gemstones can be damaged by sufficient force and such damage is the responsibility of the owner.

Unauthorized Resizing. Items that have been resized, altered, or modified by the customer through any party other than Tang & Co lose all warranty coverage. Only resizing services performed by Tang & Co maintain warranty protection.

Cosmetic Preferences. Changes in personal taste, style preferences, or desire for updated designs are not warranty issues. The warranty covers manufacturing defects, not aesthetic preferences or fashion changes.

WARRANTY CLAIM PROCESS

Initiating and processing a warranty claim follows a structured procedure designed to ensure efficient resolution:

Initial Contact and Documentation. Contact Tang & Co customer service at contactus@tangandco.com with your complete order number, warranty certificate number if available, and a detailed written description of the issue you are experiencing. Include clear, well-lit photographs of the jewelry showing the defect from multiple angles. Close-up images that clearly show the problem area are essential for accurate evaluation.

Evaluation and Determination. Tang & Co will review your claim submission within two business days of receipt. Our quality assurance team will assess whether the reported issue falls within the scope of warranty coverage based on the information and photographs provided. Additional information, photographs, or clarification may be requested during this evaluation period to ensure accurate assessment.

Return Authorization Process. If your claim is approved for warranty service, Tang & Co will issue a return authorization number and provide a prepaid, fully insured shipping label via email. You must ship the item within thirty days of receiving the return authorization. Pack the jewelry securely in its original box if available, or in a padded jewelry box, and ship using the provided label.

Professional Inspection. Upon receipt at our facility, the item undergoes thorough inspection by our experienced quality assurance team. This inspection verifies the defect, confirms that the issue falls within warranty coverage, and determines the appropriate resolution. The inspection also checks for any conditions that might void warranty coverage, such as third-party modifications or damage from excluded causes.

Resolution Options. If the warranty claim is validated through inspection, Tang & Co will implement one of the following resolutions at our sole discretion based on the nature and extent of the issue: repair of the item at no charge to restore it to proper condition, replacement with an item of equal or greater value if repair is not feasible, or provision of a full refund of the original purchase price.

Return Shipping. Repaired or replacement items are returned to you via fully insured shipping at no cost. You will receive tracking information via email when your item ships.

Timeline Expectations. Standard warranty repairs require two to three weeks from the date Tang & Co receives the item at our facility. Complex repairs or situations requiring custom parts may require additional time. If your repair will take longer than the standard timeframe, you will be contacted with an updated timeline estimate.

PROOF OF PURCHASE REQUIREMENTS

Valid proof of purchase from Tang & Co is required for all warranty claims and services. Acceptable forms of proof include the original order confirmation email, detailed invoice, itemized receipt, or payment confirmation that clearly shows the purchase date, item description, and amount paid.

The warranty holder is responsible for maintaining and producing proof of purchase for the entire duration of the warranty period. Tang & Co recommends storing proof of purchase documentation both in physical form with the warranty certificate and digitally in a secure location.

This warranty is non-transferable and applies exclusively to the original purchaser whose information appears on the warranty certificate or purchase documentation. Transfer of ownership through sale, gift, inheritance, or any other means immediately voids this warranty. The warranty cannot be assigned or transferred to subsequent owners under any circumstances.

RESIZING AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES

Tang & Co offers professional jewelry services for a fee. All services must be performed by Tang & Co to maintain warranty coverage.

Resizing Services. Professional resizing performed by Tang & Co maintains full warranty coverage on the resized item. Pricing is based on the extent of modification required and the complexity of the piece. Simple band resizing, complex designs with channel-set stones, intricate patterns, or unusual constructions each require individual assessment and pricing quotes. Contact contactus@tangandco.com for a detailed quote specific to your item.

Professional Cleaning and Polishing. Restore the original brilliance and appearance of your jewelry with professional cleaning and polishing services. This service includes ultrasonic cleaning, detailed hand polishing, and inspection of stone security and prong condition.

Prong Retipping and Rebuilding. Worn prongs can be professionally rebuilt to restore stone security. Pricing depends on metal type, prong size, and complexity of the setting. Multiple prong repairs may qualify for volume pricing discounts.

Stone Replacement Services. Lost or damaged stones can be replaced with stones matching the original specifications. Pricing includes the cost of the replacement stone plus setting labor. Exact pricing depends on the carat weight, quality grade, and type of stone being replaced.

Metal Replating Services. White gold jewelry can be professionally replated with rhodium to restore the bright white finish. Pricing depends on the size and complexity of the piece. Replating typically maintains its appearance for twelve to thirty-six months depending on wear patterns.

Chain and Bracelet Repair. Broken or damaged chains and bracelets can be professionally repaired. Repair costs vary depending on the type of damage, chain style, and metal type.

Service Quote Process. To receive a detailed quote for any service, contact contactus@tangandco.com with your order number, detailed description of the service needed, photographs of the item, and any specific concerns. Tang & Co will provide a comprehensive price quote, estimated timeline, and prepaid shipping label upon approval.

Important Service Notice. Any resizing, repair, modification, or service performed by jewelers or parties other than Tang & Co immediately and permanently voids this entire warranty without exception. Tang & Co cannot guarantee the quality, safety, or appropriateness of work performed by other service providers, regardless of their qualifications, and assumes no responsibility whatsoever for issues, damage, or defects arising from or related to third-party service.

JEWELRY CARE GUIDELINES

Proper care significantly extends the life and beauty of your jewelry while maintaining warranty coverage:

Activity Restrictions. Remove all jewelry before swimming in pools or natural bodies of water, bathing or showering, exercising or engaging in sports, performing household cleaning tasks, gardening or yard work, applying cosmetics or hair products, and sleeping. These activities expose jewelry to chemicals, impact, moisture, and stress that accelerate wear and may cause damage.

Storage Recommendations. Store jewelry in the original Tang & Co box or in individual soft cloth pouches when not being worn. Keep pieces separated to prevent scratching between items. Store jewelry in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and humidity. Avoid storing jewelry in bathrooms where humidity and temperature fluctuations can affect metals and stones.

Cleaning Procedures. Clean jewelry regularly at home using lukewarm water and a few drops of mild dish soap. Soak for fifteen to twenty minutes, then gently scrub with a soft-bristled toothbrush, paying particular attention to the underside of stones and around prongs where dirt accumulates. Rinse thoroughly under running lukewarm water and dry completely with a soft, lint-free cloth. Allow jewelry to air dry fully before storing.

Chemical Avoidance. Keep jewelry away from harsh chemicals including household cleaners, bleach, chlorine, acetone, and other solvents. Remove jewelry before applying lotions, perfumes, hairsprays, cosmetics, and sunscreens. Allow these products to dry completely on your skin before putting on jewelry.

Professional Maintenance. Have your jewelry professionally inspected every six to twelve months. Tang & Co offers complimentary inspections to assess prong security, stone stability, and overall structural condition. Regular professional inspection helps identify potential issues before they result in stone loss or damage. Professional cleaning is recommended annually to remove buildup that home cleaning cannot address.

Handling Practices. Handle jewelry by the band or metal components rather than by stones when possible. Avoid touching diamonds and gemstones with fingers as oils from skin can diminish brilliance. Put jewelry on after dressing to avoid catching on clothing. Remove jewelry before undressing to prevent snagging.

DIAMOND AND GEMSTONE CERTIFICATION

Center stones of 0.30 carats or larger include independent certification from either the International Gemological Institute or the Gemological Institute of America. This certification provides an unbiased, scientific analysis of the diamond or gemstone's characteristics and quality.

The certificate documents precise measurements, carat weight accurate to one-hundredth of a carat, color grade on the standardized scale, clarity grade based on internal and external characteristics, cut grade for round diamonds including proportions and symmetry, and any additional identifying characteristics or treatments. Each certificate includes a unique identification number that can be verified through the issuing laboratory's online database.

This gemological certification is independent of the Tang & Co warranty and remains valid regardless of warranty status. The certificate serves as permanent documentation of the stone's characteristics at the time of grading. For diamonds with laser inscription, the certificate number is microscopically engraved on the diamond's girdle and can be viewed under ten-times magnification.

Certificates should be stored securely with other important documents. Tang & Co provides both physical certificates with shipments and digital copies via email for your records.

LEGAL TERMS AND LIABILITY LIMITATION

Tang & Co's total liability under this warranty is strictly limited to repair of the defective item, replacement with an item of equal value, or refund of the original purchase price, at Tang & Co's sole discretion. This represents the complete extent of Tang & Co's obligation under this warranty.

Tang & Co shall not be liable under any circumstances for incidental, consequential, special, indirect, or punitive damages arising from the purchase, use, or inability to use the jewelry, or from any breach of this warranty. This includes but is not limited to loss of use, loss of time, inconvenience, commercial loss, lost profits, or lost savings.

Some jurisdictions do not permit the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages. In such jurisdictions, the above limitation or exclusion may not apply, and liability may be limited to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law.

This warranty provides specific legal rights. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may also have additional rights that vary from province to province or state to state. Nothing in this warranty limits or excludes any rights provided by applicable consumer protection legislation.

This written warranty constitutes the entire warranty agreement between Tang & Co and the purchaser. No oral or written information, advertising, or advice given by Tang & Co employees, agents, representatives, or retailers creates any additional warranty or in any way extends or modifies the terms of this warranty. No employee, agent, representative, or retailer has authority to modify or extend this warranty unless such modification is made in writing and signed by an authorized officer of Tang & Co.

INSURANCE AND VALUATION

While this warranty protects against manufacturing defects, it does not replace or substitute for personal property insurance coverage. Tang & Co strongly recommends that all jewelry purchasers obtain appropriate insurance coverage for valuable items.

Jewelry insurance typically covers loss, theft, mysterious disappearance, and accidental damage that fall outside the scope of this warranty. Homeowners or renters insurance policies often provide limited coverage for jewelry, but valuable pieces typically require scheduled personal property endorsements or separate jewelry insurance policies for adequate protection.

For insurance purposes, Tang & Co can provide detailed documentation including purchase receipts, item descriptions, photographs, and gemstone certifications. Appraisals for insurance purposes can be arranged through Tang & Co or through independent appraisers at the customer's expense.

The value stated on purchase documentation represents the retail purchase price and may not reflect replacement value, resale value, or appraised value for insurance purposes. Insurance valuations should be updated periodically to account for market changes.

SUSTAINABILITY AND ETHICAL COMMITMENT

Every piece of Tang & Co jewelry is created using lab-grown diamonds and recycled precious metals, reflecting our commitment to environmental responsibility and ethical sourcing practices. This commitment to sustainability does not affect warranty coverage but represents the values that guide our business practices.

Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined diamonds while requiring significantly less energy and water and generating substantially less environmental disruption. Our exclusive use of lab-grown diamonds ensures that every purchase supports sustainable luxury without compromise.

Recycled precious metals are refined to the same purity standards as newly mined metals and perform identically in jewelry applications. By using recycled metals, we reduce the environmental impact associated with mining operations while maintaining the quality and durability expected in fine jewelry.
